Cecylia Barczyk - Professor of Cello at Towson University-Maryland and Artistic Director of the International Music Institute and Festival USA. - named The FIRST LADY OF THE CELLO at the II World Cello Congress in St. Petersburg has achieved international recognition as a great artist, successful teacher, and effective humanitarian. She has performed concerts, recitals, and master classes throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East and both North and South America, including appearances with prominent orchestras in Berlin, Leipzig, Dresden, Budapest, Prague, Bratislava, Moscow, Cracow, Gdansk, Katowice, Poznan, Lublin, Warsaw, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Amman, Beijing, Shanghai, Ho Chi Min City, Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, Jakarta, Manila, Moscow, St. Petersburg, New York, Boston, Chicago, New Orleans, Washington, Baltimore. Prof. Barczyk's recordings for radio, television and publishing record companies (Muza, Melodia, Sonimex, and exclusively ICRecords) have been highly valued by experts and greatly appreciated by music lovers in many lands. Some of her CD's -VCPF, Belle Époque, Music for Peace- received The Gold Disc Award. POL SAT recorded and several times have broadcast her performance of the Haydn Cello Concertos (C major and for two cellos with S. Firlej). For her musical and pedagogical achievements, Prof. Barczyk has received many awards and honors from professional, cultural, and government institutions in the U.S.A., Poland, Germany, Korea, Mexico, China, and Indonesia. The American String Teachers Association-awarded her the title Best Teacher of the Year (1995 and 2005). The Tianjin Conservatory of Music, China, granted her the title Distinguished Honorary Professor. The International Friends of the Cello Association granted her the Award for Great Achievements in Cello Music, The International Music Consortium honored her with the Paderewki Medal for Outstanding Contributions to Society and Culture, and the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Poland gave Cecylia Barczyk the Medal for Outstanding Achievements in Music and Contribution to Polish Culture. Prof. Barczyk completed her studies with distinctions at the Chopin Academy in Warsaw (K. Wilkomirski), Tchaikowsky Conservatory in Moscow (N.Gutman), and Yale School of Music, USA (A. Parisot).
