diana tokaji

writer and choreographer, has presented her work in London, San Francisco, and the D.C. area. Her one-woman essay/dance- Loss for Words has been featured at local colleges and conferences, as it expresses loss from the perspective of a young child. With Josephine Nicholson she premiered WEERD SISTERS at the Inaugural Capital Fringe Festival last July, and their new project- The Gobe Fish and The Blind Shrimp will launch this season. As a dancer, Diana has traveled on national tour with Dance Through Time, playing the roles of five quirky women spanning 500 years. Although, not a ballerina, she was a union member of the San Francisco Opera Ballet Company, dancing beside Pavarotti and Leontyne Price, (and was delighted to have medical insurance). As a writer, she has worked as a dance critic, written a monthly column for a feminist newspaper, published feature stories, essays, and her most recent published poem /Hold for the Smallest Moment/ in the Bellevue Literary Review. She is the mother of two, and a yoga instructor at Strathmore Music Center and in private practice. Her creative work and teaching is influenced by Siddha Yoga and the teachings of Swami Chidvilasananda.
